About DevNW

We're Committed to These Ideas

  • the concept of wellbeing applies to your finances, your living situation, and your community as much as it applies to your health.
  • thriving communities are built one success story at a time.
  • it’s important to provide people with the tools to succeed, and that success looks different for everyone.
  • a shared sense of responsibility and local ownership turbocharge our communities.
  • neighborhoods thrive when individuals, families, businesses, and local governments work side by side toward progress.
  • a shared respect for each other and the places that we call home binds us together.
  • it's possible to break through longstanding barriers and injustices to create positive, equitable changes for our communities.

Our Big Idea

To grow vibrant Northwest communities by empowering the region’s individuals, families, small businesses, and neighborhoods. To open doors to progress and equity and opportunity — and keep them open. To stand beside our neighbors — beside you — and walk through whichever door you choose, together.

Our Approach — An Overview

We provide practical and goal-oriented support to individuals, families, and communities across the Northwest. Our work is hands-on. We have a personal stake in developing thriving communities because they’re our communities. We live here. It really matters to us. So, we offer a variety of services to help you on the road to financial wellbeing, including one-on-one financial counseling, educational tools, access to funds, affordable housing options, and more.

Our Roadmap

DevNW is a nonprofit that was created in 2019 when Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation (NEDCO) and Willamette Neighborhood Housing Services (WNHS) united to expand their impact, bring people together, and better help our communities thrive in the long term. Together, our two organizations have 60 years of experience. We help people find and make homes, start small businesses, revitalize neighborhoods, and achieve their goals — whatever shapes those goals may take.

Our Day-to-Day

Thanks to a shared sense of purpose and unwavering optimism, we love what we do, and we are inspired by the people with whom we collaborate every day. No two days look the same around here, but when it comes to looking toward the future, we’re all on the same page. Our team is full of visionaries, which inspires organization-wide innovation, flexibility, and a deep connection with our diverse communities. If this sounds like a work environment that would suit you, visit the Careers page on our website for more information on open positions and how to apply.

Your Opportunities

Our services and programs are designed to help you take charge of your finances and meet your goals, whether you dream of owning your own home, simply want to build a better budget for your family, or want to turn your passion into your own business.

Grow Your Knowledge

Our Financial Wellbeing programming is designed to give you access to the knowledge and tools that you need to reach your goals. Sometimes, that means one-on-one counseling for first-time homebuyers or young families who are saddled with student loan debt. Other times, it means workshops like Financial Foundations (Fundaciones Financiera), which can help you learn to budget better, leverage a new car into greater career opportunities, or plan for retirement. No matter what your goals look like or which road you take to reach them, we’re committed to traveling right alongside you. Just in case you need a little help navigating — or someone to talk to along the way.

Unlock Your Dreams

We believe that the right kind of funding can help you get to where you want to be — and it’s our job to make those funds more accessible to everyone. That’s why we offer individual development (matched savings) accounts and downpayment assistance programs for homebuyers on top of a variety of loans, including credit-builder, personal, auto, home repair, and small business. Our terms were made to meet you wherever you are financially, so that you never feel like you’re in over your head. We want you to succeed, because that’s how we all succeed.

Make Your Home

We believe that access to affordable rental housing and real, viable pathways to homeownership (and home maintenance) are central to the health of our communities. And every day, we work to put those in place. We build homes and manage rental units that are affordable for low- and moderate-income families throughout Lane, Benton, and Linn counties. We have specific loans to help you make a down payment for your first home or repair a home that you already own. And we also have dedicated staff who work with our rental tenants to connect them with resources and ensure that they always feel like they’re the ones behind the wheel.

Build Our Community

We believe that it’s important to foster connections between people and appreciate their diversity to fortify our communities and, ultimately, thrive — together. DevNW enables communities to flourish by helping to revitalize neighborhoods. By bringing neighbors together with community events. By building affordable housing and developing commercial real estate. By addressing public health — on both practical and policy levels. And most importantly, by getting help from our friends: We have close working relationships with neighborhoods, small businesses, local governments, and grassroots organizations and we make the most of them to generate progress in our communities.
