Board Members
Molly Markarian, President. Molly is a Planner II at the City of Springfield. As a former NEDCO employee, she has experienced first hand the impact that NEDCO’s work has on the lives of individuals, families, and the community at large. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to further NEDCO’s mission of helping people build assets as a strategy for reducing poverty and creating sustainable communities in her capacity as a board member.
Jon Stafford, Secretary. Jon is a local architect who has learned through his involvement with NEDCO that “having one’s efforts validated by seeing those efforts empower people and make their lives better is immensely satisfying.”
John Adkisson, Treasurer. John is a CPA, and says that "homeownership is the foundation of a strong community, and NEDCO is helping build that foundation. Anything I can do to help NEDCO achieve their goals, and help their constituents achieve their goals, is worthwhile."
Melva Boles is a retired teacher; she taught at Sheldon High School in Eugene. She likes the fact that NEDCO is project based rather than process based and has been able to complete an impressive number of projects and built an organization that is healthy, viable, stable and that benefits many people.
Al Coddington is a local builder/general contractor who is on the board because “I want to feel that in some way I am making a contribution to creating a better society…there are a lot of hard working people out there who with just the little help we can lend them can make major improvements in their lives.”
Michael Coulbourne owns a State Farm Insurance Agency in Eugene. He has served as a volunteer instructor for NEDCO for the last several years, and states, "It has been a real pleasure to observe the pride and excitement in those who are preparing to purchase a home. As a board member, I am able to make further contributions to NEDCO's commitment to building strong, healthy neighborhoods, and helping families to thrive."
Debbie Davis is Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager at US Bank in downtown Springfield. As a representative of downtown business in Springfield and a long time resident of Eugene/ Springfield, she is eager to promote NEDCO’s efforts to revitalize the area through business development, the Springfield Farmers’ Market and affordable homeownership.
Jasen Hansen is Commercial Appraiser/Partner, Duncan & Brown Real Estate Analysts. Jasen writes, "I joined the board at NEDCO because, after learning about the organization, I was very excited to try to help NEDCO's mission any way I could. I have lived in the Eugene/Springfield area all my life, and I feel promoting home ownership plays an important role in strengthening our community in many ways."
Fawnda Thompson is Assistant Vice President and Manager, Siuslaw Mortgage. Fawnda writes, "I’ve been a volunteer for NEDCO since 1999, because I love NEDCO’s commitment to helping families become successful homeowners. By being a board member, I can be even more involved with helping make our community better."
Shane Tracey, President, Kekau Chocolatier, Inc/Nib Dessert and Wine Bar. Shane writes, "I like to be part of the community change that NEDCO constantly works toward, and will do anything within my limits to help NEDCO achieve its goals. As an entrepreneur who recently started a small business in Eugene’s Whiteaker neighborhood, I feel I offer a balanced outlook on any situation."
Ed Durkee supervises workforce development programs and human resources for Goodwill Industries. Ed is impressed by how community development corporations create opportunities for neighborhood residents. "There is nothing more optimistic than a construction site. Everybody starts these projects with a vision of success. I like NEDCO because its visions of success include new homeowners and successful businesses in our established neighborhoods."
Jessica Hampton, is a Graduate Student at the University of Oregon, studying nonprofit management and community and regional planning. Upon completing her Graduate work, she hopes to work in an organization that upholds the same principles that NEDCO is so committed to.
